Spiritual Concepts
Some of the spiritual concepts in India besides
karma and ahimsa are Vedanta, deification, dharma, yoga and guru. Dharma refers
to the practice. It is a righteous, legal and ethical conduct and based on free
will. It includes karma and is known as that which hold your true nature.
Dharma is without a beginning. Some of the concepts within dharma are ananta
and apaurushaya. Ananta means without end, there is no concept of conversion.
Apaurushaya means that it is not a function of a single individual meaning not
one person is the author of the Hindu Dharma. It has no beginning or end. Yoga
means that we are all tiny components of a larger thing out there. To become
one, one must achieve physical and intellectual meditation. The types of yoga
are inana, which means path of knowledge, bhakti, which is path of devotion,
karma that is path of selfless action and raja which is the royal yoga known as
path of meditation. A guru is someone who goes well beyond subject expertise.
They are the expert in literature and believe that all knowledge is presumed in
the vedas. They must be three things, first they must be well versed in the vedas,
and two they have to be a self-realized person and three the individual has to
be a teacher.
